Good afternoon!
There are no real updates to pass on this week. Students will start presenting their Friday fun fact projects in class as of this Friday (they are aware of the date that they are expected to present). Otherwise, students are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!
Here are your updates for the week: 1.) This Wednesday, Jan. 23rd is a CLT day. As such, students will be dismissed at 1:05 pm. 2.) Students have begun writing their English speeches in class. Last week you should have seen a speech proposal come home for you to sign. The purpose of the proposal is to have students think about three possible topics and narrow their interest down to one. I will be giving students ample time to complete their speeches in class, provided they are using their class time efficiently. There may be small tasks that they have to work on as the writing process goes on, but again this will only be assigned for homework if they haven't used their class time to its full potential. The due date has not yet been set as it will depend on our progress. In class presentations will occur during the week of Feb. 18-22, 2019. 3.) Students also have a Friday Fun Fact project that they have been working on. Students have had some class time to work on their projects already and will be given a bit more this week. Presentations will start February 1st. Students have been made aware of their own presentation date. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!
Here are your updates for the week: 1.) We will be having a visit from staff at the South Shore Public Library on Wednesday afternoon. Students are asked to please download the app "Libby" on their iPads prior to this visit. 2.) You should have received a notice last week regarding your child's "Friday Fun Fact" project. They will be given some class time to work on their project but will be expected to finish it at home (or at school outside of class hours) if need be. The sheet that went home detailed the specifics of the project and your child's first date for their presentation. 3.) The next CLT will be on Wednesday, January 23rd. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!
Here are your updates for the week: 1.) This Wednesday, Jan. 9th is the first CLT day of 2019. As such, students will be dismissed at 1:05 pm. 2.) Students are reminded to be sure to have indoor shoes at school if at all possible. Wet/salty/dirty/snow-covered shoes are asked to be kept either in students' lockers or on the outside wall of the classroom. Students are also reminded to dress appropriately for the weather! Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!
Here are your updates for the week: 1.) This week is spirt week at BJHS! The theme days for the rest of the week are as follows: Tuesday - Viking Spirit Day, Wednesday - Sports Day (wear any kind of sports clothing), Thursday - Pyjama Day, Friday - Holiday Sweater Day. 2.) The last day of school before break in this Friday, Dec. 21st. School will resume in the new year on Thursday, Jan. 3rd. That's all for now! Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!
Here are your updates for the week: 1.) The BJHS Holiday Dinner will be taking place in the cafeteria on Wednesday, Dec. 13th. Students do not need to bring a lunch that day as they will be receiving a free turkey dinner. There will be no breakfast program or regular cafeteria service on this day. 2.) The BES holiday concert will be taking place on Monday, December 17th for students in 6C. The concert will be in the BES gymnasium from 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm. The entrance cost is $2 at the door. Students discussed costumes for the holiday music concert with Mrs. Jamieson and were made aware of what they need to bring to complete their costume. 3.) The BES and BJHS Sounds of the Season Concert will be taking place tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 11th) in the BJHS gym starting at 6:30 pm. Choirs and bands from both schools will be in attendance. 4.) Given that we have snow on the ground (for now), students are reminded to bring a pair of indoor shoes to school if at all possible so that they can change their footwear when coming in from recess and lunch. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!
It's hard to believe we are in the month of December already! Here are your updates for the week: 1.) As previously stated, parent/teacher has been rescheduled to tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 4th) from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the BJHS gym. No appointments are necessary. Students will be dismissed at 11:35 am. 2.) Wednesday, Dec. 5th is a CLT day. As such, students will be dismissed at 1:05 pm. 3.) We will be walking to the Bridgewater Cineplex on Friday, December 7th to watch the movie "Noël et Cie" in French with other French classes in the area. There is no cost to students for this event but they are permitted to bring money for concessions if they would like (we will be back in time for lunch). We are still looking for one more chaperone to walk down and stay for the duration of the movie (this would be free of charge to you as well). Please let me know if you are interested! The movie starts at 10:00 am so we will likely be leaving the school shortly after the bell (at 8:35 am) and returning around lunchtime. 5.) Our visit from the South Shore Public Library has been postponed until the new year. If your student has not yet returned his/her form, please have them bring it in as soon as possible. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!

Here are your updates for the week: 1.) As I'm sure you're aware, report cards went home with students today. The format has changed since last year: in the first term students only receive reports for their learner profile, math, French, and English. For each of these subjects you will find a comment and a mark along the developmental scale. Please refer to the SSRCE's website for further explanation of the changes. Note that on the website it says D on the developmental scale but it should actually say DE (that's what you'll see on the report card). https://www.ssrce.ca/report-card-updates-grades-4-6/ 2.) Parent/Teacher will be taking place on Thursday, November 29th from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm in the BJHS gymnasium. As stated last week, BJHS parent/teacher is structured a little differently than BES: appointments are not necessary, simply drop by during one of those times and if I am with another parent/guardian when you arrive I will be with shortly. Students will be dismissed at 11:35 am on this day. 3.) The BES holiday concert will be taking place on Monday, December 17th for students in 6C. Students who have not yet returned their library visit forms are asked to do as as soon as possible. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier Good afternoon!

Students are asked to fill out this form even if they have an existing library account as a staff member from the library will be visiting in early December to discuss some of their services and how to access library books through their online database and app. Students are asked to return this form by Friday, Nov. 23 if possible. Have a great week! Mlle Hillier |
